The ravenous Pope
Swings his long rope
Yells, ‘convert them all’
Bout time, a fresh haul*

* A parallel development in the Vatican, which the media appears to have missed out on, is the appointment of an Indian Cardinal Ivan Dias as head of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, a wing in charge of conversions. Dias has his work cut out. The Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, founded in 1622, is the Vatican's department entrusted with the coordination of programmes aimed at spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ in territories where Christianity is ‘young’.
