Quatrain LXXXXIV -- MARA HAI TO BEHTAR HAI

Clamouring over the dead
Is a quintessential political fad
While Sonia's 'pain' over Muslims slain is in perfect order*
22 dead Hindus in Doda isn't enough electoral fodder**

*Sonia ‘pained’ to hear of Baroda killings

Lo! thy dread empire
Chaos is restored!
Light dies before
Thy uncreating world.
Thy hand! Great anarch!
Let the curtains fall,
And universal darkness
Buries all.

What Alexander Pope wrote about the British empire is also true about the present day empire builders of India - the upper caste Hindu. As Derrida had once said, "When the external colonizer leaves, it is time to take up the issue of internal colonization". But people who were born smelling and licking the left overs of the British plate would not be interested in such issues. It's their living idols and their dead ones who matter and matter the most, above all others. It is their father who stands tallest against all other fathers. Feudal societies live and die by the glorified image of the father. The father is not merely a feudal nightmare, but also a business deal for maintaining property rights. So his death throws up a competeition of tears. He who cries the hoarsest is the most benumbed. When such people carry out shows of tears, according to folk tales, jackals fornicate. Let us all stand up and shed tears for the death of our beloved leader Pramod Mahajan. The news reader in CNN-IBN is wearing black. Maybe Rajdeep Sardesai wants to strip in grief. The crisis is truely heart wrenching. Politicians and media presenters are sharing each other's sholders. We are told, a whole nation has lost a very important politician. But what about the advertisement costs being enjoyed by the media channels? Are they lamenting on Mahajan's death for free?!

Yours faithfully!

That is the irony isn't it? Democracy runs on the premise that the majority counts, but because majority counts, minority counts more. So for the majority voice to count, it'll have to wait until it is the minority, and that won't be too far away going by its numbers that're being massacred!!!!!
