* Dr Verghese Kurien man who pioneered the White revolution in India and took the cooperative movement to dizzy extremes resigned as chairman of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation following an ugly battle for power with his protégé Amrita Patel. The epic AMUL model assumed such legendary proportions, that it was captured on celluloid by Shyam Benegal in the film Manthan starring Girish Karnad and Smita Patil.
